Cigarettes…..
You can't live with them…
If you’re thinking about hypnotherapy in your quest to stop smoking, chances are that you’ve tried the obvious remedies – will-power, nicotine patches, cutting down gradually or quitting abruptly. Maybe it worked for a while, and then the allure of that old cancer-stick reasserted its hold. You probably know about the arsenic, cyanide, carbon monoxide and dozens of carcinogens in each cigarette. Fifty per cent of smokers will die prematurely from smoking –related diseases. Scary, isn’t it? Compare those statistics to the chances of winning the Lottery and there’s no contest.
And even if you don’t actually die from smoking your health will be seriously compromised, whether it’s being too breathless to kick a ball around with your children, a chronic smoker’s cough, or impotence. Then there’s all the money you could have spent on something you really wanted for yourself… No, whatever way you look at it smoking is not very clever.
But you can't live without them…
You probably don’t need telling those grim statistics about tobacco ruining your health. So the question remains – why does anyone continue to smoke?
We like to believe we are logical, consistent and self-aware in the way we behave. And so we are, as much as anyone else is. But the powerful advantage of Labyrintherapies hypnotherapy is that it recognises we all operate in parts. That means that just as part of us naturally desires health and long life, so there is also a ‘smoker part’ who does not want to let go the social confidence and comradeship that smoking has given us over the years. We need to understand that our ‘smoker part’ may be persuasive in keeping our habit going, or very reluctant to let go our identity as a smoker.
Addictions
We know that nicotine is physically addictive, because our damaged bodies send out cravings. But our addictions can be psychological and emotional too. We feel we relax better with a cigarette; maybe our leisure time feels incomplete without that oral satisfaction. And how sad is that? Aren’t you enough without your cigarettes? Do you really want to feel that about yourself?
What should I expect from hypnosis?
Hypnotherapy to stop smoking will generally take two sessions.
In the first session I will take your personal details, including the history of your smoking, and ascertain, in hypnosis, what motivates you to smoke and your decisions about stopping. Clients find this relaxing and can often discover from their subconscious feelings about their their tobacco habit they did not realise they had.
In the second session we will follow up what you have resolved about quitting, and engage with the different parts involved in your smoking. My emphasis is on gratitude for all the behaviours which have helped you through your life this far. However, now it is time to release those habits which are no longer helpful to you, and welcome the healthy, non-smoking you.
Price for Smoking cessation is £125 for full treatment.
